(Senior) Associate Indirect Tax - Financial Services

Do you want to engage with all the developments in the financial sector and make an impact in a role where VAT, technology and social interest come together? We are looking for you!

The financial sector is in a state of flux. Online payment platforms, (digital) banks, fintechs and flash traders are constantly looking to innovate and improve their services, often by using technology. But established parties are also innovating to keep up with the times. More than ever, financial institutions have to deal with complex regulations in the various countries in which they operate. This creates a fascinating field of tension between client, regulator and adviser.

As advisers, we relieve clients when they encounter the consequences of VAT. We also act as the link between clients and regulators and are not afraid to put forward new ideas, even if these require legal proceedings.

What will you be doing?

As a (Senior) Associate in the Indirect Tax - Financial Services team, you will contribute to finding a solution for our clients. Whether that is by interpreting the corresponding VAT consequences based on developments in the business, to be in 'control' of the VAT position or to resolve a dispute.

You focus on (complex) VAT issues, being the first point of contact for our clients and using technology to achieve efficiency in your own work or collaborating on the integration of VAT in the client's systems. With the guidance of and collaboration with your team members, you will have the opportunity to quickly develop your own knowledge and skills in a way that suits your ambition and abilities.

Your role includes the following tasks:

  • You actively participate in consultations with the client and/or supervisor(s).

  • You conduct research into opportunities to solve the client's VAT-related problems.

  • You consult with your (international) colleagues to jointly provide clients with a broad solution.

  • You co-write objection and appeal letters.

  • You supervise less experienced colleagues and contribute to the team's atmosphere.

Does this describe you?

You are a driven tax consultant who wants to work creatively with the complex issues that come up. You have good analytical skills and are willing to develop further. You also like to contribute socially; both to the team and to build lasting relationships with clients and regulators.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A completed master's degree in tax law or tax economics. (Are you not a diehard tax expert but have completed another master's degree and recognise yourself in the profile? Then contact us as well. We would love to think along with you!)

  • Interest in the financial sector in a broad sense.

  • Good command of Dutch and English.

  • Relevant work experience is a plus, but not required for the Associate role.

What are we offering?
We believe in the power of an inclusive culture and we want everyone to feel free to be themselves. We offer access to the PwC global network, where you can exchange knowledge, ideas, and questions with other experienced professionals regarding tax and also other disciplines. We also offer you:

  • Personalized training courses that contribute to the development of your personal leadership and professional knowledge. Our learning solutions support you in your job and help you to develop further in your career. We believe it is important that you can continuously develop your knowledge and skills and we therefore give you the time to do so. The possibilities are wide and always fit to the phase in your career.

  • an appropriate salary and extensive employment conditions , including a “ well-being budget ”. This is a personal annual budget to spend on your health, for example on mindfulness, sport, lifestyle coaching, and wellness.

  • a fully equipped, ergonomic home office with a second monitor.

  • a monthly Internet allowance.

  • an electric lease car/attractive mobility scheme, laptop, and iPhone.

  • 30 days’ holiday a year.

  • hybrid working at the client, at home, and at the office.

  • the opportunity to get involved, during normal working hours, with Corporate Responsibility, various networks, diversity, innovation and/or recruitment.

  • enjoyable informal activities.
