Bioprex Medical is a biotechnology company that develops a first-in-class antimicrobial coating technology for indwelling medical devices to prevent infections. We are in preclinical development stage, recently completing a first in vivo study in mice showing great promise for effectiveness and biocompatibility. Bioprex is a spin-out from the University of Groningen Zernike Institute of Advanced Materials. We are headquartered in Groningen, The Netherlands.

The position

We are looking for a Head of Product Development to join our management team. As Head of Product Development, you are responsible for leading the product development of our innovative coating technology in line with regulatory and quality requirements. You will work closely with our Chief Technology Officer in translating innovative ideas into sound R&D plans.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute the product roadmap of our coating towards market applications
• Set-up and manage the execution of test plans
• Manage the completion of technical documentation in line with regulatory requirements
• Lead upscaling of lab syntheses to quality-controlled manufacturing processes
• Take financial responsibility for the R&D department and project budgets
• Work closely with external partners, consultants, scientists, clinicians, and others
• Represent Bioprex Medical in a variety of internal and external settings
• Support Business Development activities

Your profile

• PhD/advanced degree in organic/polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years industry experience in product development or project management, with a focus on medical devices, coating technologies, advanced materials, and/or biomedical polymers
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards, particularly in the context of quality management systems (ISO 13485)
• Entrepreneurial spirit and team player in start-up environment
• Strong communication skills (verbal and in written)
