Network Security Engineer - Agile / SAFe environment

As a Network Security Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring the technical security requirements within the network domain are met, enabling the various systems to be accredited and policy requirements to be met. You will work closely with the IT security team to develop and implement general and specific IT Security Services, and properly implementing solutions (systems, appliances etc.). You will also be responsible to help translating different security requirements, and creating / adapting designs for implementation.

You’ll be part of one of the infrastructure teams within the security team, and will act as the linking pin between the information security officer and the technical side of things / technical stakeholders. You will guide the IT staff in implementing your design and share the knowledge gained with them, so that they can also independently perform future actions. You will coach the IT staff on technical skills related to security, hardening the infrastructure (networks, appliances, systems).

You will take care of the further development and maximum effectiveness of information systems and/or infrastructure within the business unit you are responsible for, by identifying bottlenecks, making suggestions for improvement, supervising the improvement of processes, ensuring lifecycle management and drawing up relevant quality criteria. You will formulate and present your improvement proposals and thus deliver a long-term policy on information security and security architecture.

You will act as a go to person for knowledge for your business area of responsibility, by acting as a sparring partner, by conducting consultations about bottlenecks and solutions, and by sharing developments in your field of expertise. You will identify technical risks and act appropriately, and give advice, both proactively and on request, in the field of information security and your area of responsibility.

You will be responsible for the following IT Security Services/Security Domains:

  • Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention
  • Network (802.1x)
  • Network Access Control
  • Malware Detection
  • IT Hardening

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in the field of Information Security within the IT Network Domain.
  • 2+ years of experience in a role in which working with an agile-based approach.
  • 1+ year of experience in creating/improving technical designs.
  • Have completed a training/course in Leading SAFe / Agile or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment with strong information security measures, applying your experience as a network engineer (routing, switching & firewalls).
  • Proven experience advising and contributing within a sizable organization (250+ employees within an IT function).
  • Experience in setting up IDS/IDP tools, such as Security Onion, SELKS, Fortinet IDS/IPS.
  • A plus to have: Completed HBO / Bachelor’s in IT, ISO 27001 certification, CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC or other security / network security certifications.
