Senior Electrical Grid Engineer (m/f/d) - Netherlands

For our client RWE Renewables , we are searching for a Senior Electrical Grid Engineer (m/f/d) based in the Netherlands .

The work model is hybrid, i.e. remote work is possible with a high degree of flexibility, however, on-site presence is necessary based on business or project requirements.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be focusing on grid connection related activities for the development and construction of RWE’s onshore wind farm, PV and battery storage projects in Netherlands and Northern Europe.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work in all phases of onshore wind farm, PV and BESS projects
  • Ensure a robust and optimized through life design of the project’s electrical system supporting all aspects of the generation and transmission system up to the grid interface point
  • Advise projects on specific questions regarding electrical system behave, grid code compliance and interconnection processes to TSO or DSO grids
  • Lead and coordinate interconnection processes, organize all relevant technical documentation, test reports, certifications and RCAs
  • Lead design / prequalification for packages of wind farms/ PV schemes/ battery storage plants and components performing audits and technical due diligences Create simulation models for electrical systems, perform e.g. load flow and short circuit calculations, analyze dynamic stability and harmonics stability as well as protection concepts
  • Plan and coordinate internal and external resources for technical due diligence projects (e.g. M&A / acquisitions), analyze simulation results, technical solutions and risks, make proposals for technical and commercial decisions
  • Analyze electrical system behavior and grid code compliance for projects and existing plants
  • Develop and issue Request for Proposals (RFPs) for engineering work, evaluate the submissions and make recommendations on their selection
  • Support the tender, negotiation and procurement process for the E-BoP of the project
  • Act as a close liaison with technical experts in Engineering and Engineers working on similar projects to ensure their knowledge is effectively utilized on the project

Your Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor ideally in electrical power engineering or similar education
  • 3-5+ years of relevant work experience and expertise in the design, construction or operation of onshore wind, PV, Battery or similar renewable energy industry projects, with experience in collaborating with transmission or distribution network operators
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the application of relevant software programs such as PowerFactory (load flow, short circuit, protection, RMS and EMT simulations), PSS/E or PSCAD
  • Good understanding of the electrical Transmission and Distribution Network landscape in the Netherlands
  • Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful
  • Excellent teamworking ability and integrative skills, social competence and intercultural mind set
  • Broad knowledge of the use of relevant guidelines, norms and standards (e.g. IEC61400) and Best Practices
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Northern European Countries, mainly within Netherlands, exceptionally to Sweden, UK, Ireland and Germany for few days, totally up to approx. 15% of the time
