Job position: Senior Web Developers / Consultants at Backbase (Amsterdam)

Backbase is growing and therefore we are looking for new colleagues! We are looking for multiple Senior Web Developers (Frontend Consultants) to empower our current Professional Services consulting and Research & Development teams.

As a Sr. Web Developer within Backbase in Amsterdam you will be working within a leading and innovative web 2.0 company, which specializes in Customer Experience 2.0 software and services.
Backbase works for enterprises like ABN AMRO, KPN, ING, Philips, Visa, AIG, EMC, Vanguard and IBM. Because of the growing number and size of projects that Backbase undertakes, the need for experienced Sr. Web Developers that know how to deliver crispy interfaces of Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) is eminent. Backbase is looking for Web Developers that are up to the challenge.

Backbase Departments

Backbase is divided in three main technical departments who work closely together: Professional Services, Development and Research.

• Professional Services help customers with implementing our portal. It consists of 2 teams, UX Design and UX Engineering. As a Sr. Web Developer (consultant) you are a part of the Engineering Team and you will report to the Technical Director.
• Development is the department that deals with new releases of our Portal and maintains our product line. It consists of about 14 people. They use Scrum as development process, along with elements from XP and TDD. The Scrum teams are highly self-responsible which gives you a lot of freedom as well as responsibility to deliver functionality as a team. As a Sr. Web Developer you will join one of the Scrum teams and you will report to the Director of Development.
• Research is the innovation department. Here we investigate new ideas, build and test them with the goal to include them in our product line. It will be a strong flexible team consisting of our CTO, Senior developers and interns. As a Sr. Web Developer you will join this team and report to the CTO.

The goal

Working as a Sr. Web Developer, you will collaborate with strategic clients in the design, development and evolution of mission critical web applications. You will be challenged to implement complex and modern web applications based on Object Oriented architecture and applying solid programming patterns without loosing the creativity aspect of the work in hand. Our Sr. Web Developers do a wide variety of work including Ajax training and best practices consulting, frontend technical design, and application development on high quality standards.

Your Profile

• The ideal candidates for these challenging positions as a Sr. Web Developer / Front-End Consultants within Backbase will fit the following profile:
• Minimum of 4 years experience as a Web Developer
• Good understanding of Object Oriented architecture
• Some experience in Java/.Net/PHP is desirable
• Experience with performance tuning, reusability and maintainability of Ajax software.
• Quality driven & pixel-perfect focused
• Experience with automated testing of frontend deliverables is a plus (e.g. Selenium)
• Understanding and experience on architecture design patterns is an advantage
• Able to mentor more junior colleagues and guide customers.
• You possess excellent communicative skills preferably in Dutch and excellent in English
• Ability to present to audience
