Nutricia Research Centre forSpecializedNutrition, located in the Utrecht Science Park in the Netherlands is a state of the art Life Science innovationcentrefor the development of new product concepts for Specialized Nutrition. We create formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers – infants, toddlers, elderly and patients. For Specialized Nutrition R&I (SN R&I) division we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist. Your Mission The mission of the data scientist is to apply data science principles to transform data collected into knowledge following the data science process flow exploratory data analysis to statistical learning, with higher focus on interpretability. The role requires not only affinity to data but also to the domain knowledge of product and process technologies. In a parallel path the data scientist is also expected to support teams with advanced statistical techniques, such as design of experiment, SPC, MSA, RCA, optimization, modelling, data analysis, multivariate techniques, and causal inference. As a data scientist/Food technologist within the SN R&I – IDDC Liquid team, you will work within an organization where the application of data science in product/process development is a new field of expertise. You will be working together with Product and Process Developers, domain experts and process engineers to generate new insights in the product properties (such as emulsion stability, nutritional properties) and production processes to deliver breakthrough innovations and provide industry-leading data science solutions to technical challenges. About the Job Work with SN R&I (Product Developers, M&NS, FST lab, Shelflife team), Operations, pilot teams, Quality, other data scientists, Data Engineer and Data Scientists to process the data for products properties &processing improvements and innovations. Develop a strong understanding of our internal data, develop predictive models to optimize product development (qualitative/quantitative) Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed. Guide project teams with data driven project methodologies, such as 6 sigma, lead projects that are data driven Lead and build-up relevant networks and partnerships, both internally (ex : R&I teams, laboratories, factories) and externally (ex : scientific institutes, external partners) to deliver tools for Product Developers. About you

Master’s degree in data science with an affinity to learn more on food science/ process technology and food processing or Master’s degree in Food science / technology, Chemical Engineering / Technology or equivalent with affinity to data driven approaches. 5+ years of experience in a product development processing and new technology environment, experience with data science has a strong preference. • Comfortable to work in factory, R&D and corporate environments. Knowledge on applied statistics (preferably 6-sigma green belt ), mastering tools such as SPC, process diagrams and causality diagrams, Design of experiments, modelling Programming skills (preferably R and alternatively Python), SQL would be a plus Proficiency in development of statistical methods, algorithms, computer coding and artificial intelligence. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced & multi tasks environment. Comfortable working in an international and dynamic organization, with various functional disciplines at different locations Strong cross-functional project team leadership and project management skills Personal skills: analytical, open-minded, results & customer oriented, Flexible & agile work attitude, Quick learner and willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.
