IKEA is creating magical mixed-reality experiences for hundreds of millions of users, using computer vision, neural networks, graphics, and computational photography to help them reduce the “imagination gap”. , launched in 2022, is expanding to provide best in-class tools for customers and co-workers to visualize their home design ideas with helpful and joyful 3D experiences.

We are looking for highly-motivated, creative graphics engineers with entrepreneurial drive, who are excited about building novel technologies and getting them into the hands of millions if not billions of IKEA consumers!

We have an opening for a seasoned and passionate Senior Web Application Engineer to join our amazing new Home Imagination Platform (HIP) Team at IKEA, located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This team will collaborate directly with the R&D team at Geomagical Labs (an IKEA company based in the USA), and be part of influential and cutting-edge 3D and AI technology development on a global, multi-million user scale.

Who you are

'- Strong foundations in Computer Science and software engineering – a university degree in Computer Science from a competitive program is preferred. - 5+ years experience engineering substantial web full-stack codebases live in production. - Proficient in Javascript/Typescript for frontend development. - Demonstrated excellence in solving complex systems design problems. - Experience successfully leading 3+ person technical teams. - Broad and deep understanding of the modern Web Application technical stack - Browsers (browser APIs and best practices, frontend frameworks, security, etc) - Backend (network API performance + cloud + database + design) - End-to-end testing - Experience using GCP for backend cloud development & deployment. - Strong hands-on experience with Python programming. - Proficient with SQL.

BONUS: Experience in 3D graphics is a bonus. Emotionally intelligent – able to resolve conflicts, and bring out the best in your team.

About this work area

You'll be required to:

- Be a hands-on technical lead, guiding design & development of web & cloud architectures, and core technology, for our Amsterdam development team – in very close collaboration with our California teams (9 hours behind Ingka HQ). - Improve features, scalability, reliability & usability of the IKEA Kreativ web app by leading technical & process improvements - driving improved customer satisfaction and conversion. - Reliably coordinate complex technology roadmaps and be a close trusted partner to product owner. - Drive audience growth with a seamless customer journey for IKEA Kreativ:

Work closely with other areas within IKEA to design, build, and develop an integrated, omnichannel customer experience. - Design and promote healthy & effective engineering practices in the team – conduct code reviews to ensure code & architecture quality, write and review software design documents, and drive efficient and effective test automation. - Serve as a trusted and effective liaison with the broader IKEA technical organizations. - Help build and nurture a new start-up team within Home Imagination Platform: helping recruit, interview, mentor, and motivate new team members.
