Lead SCM Chartering Specialist

category specialist,

acting as expert authority on marine asset procurement across all business activities. The Lead will have exclusive authority to engage the supply lines for fixtures of marine units like: tugs, cargo barges, supply vessel, HLV, HTV, etc. They will also pro-actively define procurement strategies and serve as discipline expert to internal stakeholders, including other SCM team members. What you will be doing Ensure chartering category involvement for marine asset procurement activities, covering the entire project life cycle, from business development to project close out.

Pre-qualifies shipowners, agents and brokers.

Control and check the transportation synergies between activities across the business unit as well as with the corporate chartering category.

Ensure relevant legal framework requirements, e.g. Jones Act, are adequately incorporated in relevant transactions.

Explore, prepare and maintain frame agreements and long term charters with key business partners

Co-operates pro-actively with all internal stakeholders to understand needs of business. Advise internal stakeholder on key market developments.

Liaise with Group Chartering category to avail and follow Group category strategies.

Serves as category expert within the SCM Discipline and shall always be consulted and involved by other SCM Specialists in matters pertaining to chartering.

Defines chartering procurement strategy, in co-operation with internal stakeholders and expert disciplines.

Stays closes connected to the marine asset markets, ensuring ability of rapid response to business needs. Obtains quotes and conduct commercial evaluations, aiming to identify best economical solutions for relevant business needs.

Engages in discussions with chosen vendors to secure optimal terms, with a focus on efficiency..

Performs commercial analysis; normalize and evaluate bids received. Incorporate technical evaluations from disciplines like Engineering, planning, QHSE and Contracts.

Finalises the bid summary. Makes recommendations to internal stakeholders.

Continuously endeavours to optimise cost, quality and schedule flexibility in field of chartering.

Ensures that all Charter Party contracts in addition to subcontract paperwork are ready for execution by the authorized party.

Supervises effective delivery of charter parties.

Contributes to the realisation of the project global target. Stays aware of the key project matters, project schedule, planning and organisation.

Is involved in Charter Party close-out. Ensure lesson learnt are captured and integrate into business processes.

Supports Supplier Evaluation Process. Ensures supplier performance evaluations are carried out and populates lessons learned reports.

What you will bring to the team Bachelor level or equivalent in a technical, commercial or legal discipline

Deep understanding of Supply Chain Management and Subcontracting processes

Great communicator and negotiator, with the ability to converse in English in both written and spoken word at a very high level.

Experience in a project role, ideally within the construction and or maritime industry.

Advanced user of contemporary software tools. SAP and Ariba experience would be beneficial

Proven leadership skills with the ability to focus teams and the business.
