Within our Offshore Energy division we work hard to contribute to the energy transition by supporting the transportation and installation of offshore wind turbine foundations. The geotechnical engineering support you will deliver, such as geotechnical and geophysical soil interpretation, pile installation predictions, lateral pile stability assessments, and piling template design, is of crucial importance in our Offshore Wind projects.

Note that the focus is on installation engineering. Make your mark at our one-of-a-kind offshore projects like the Offshore wind farm XXL monopile installation at the East Coast of the US or in the Baltic. Your responsibilities You will play an active role in tenders as well as projects in preparation and execution. You will go offshore for 4-6 weeks providing geotechnical support during pile installations (not on a regular basis). You will identify geotechnical risks and opportunities and perform the necessary follow-ups. You like to cooperate within teams consisting of various disciplines. You find it a challenge to coordinate and coach less experienced team members and support them in their daily activities. In your position, next to reporting on your own assessments, you will be coordinating geotechnical questions, reviewing assessments carried out by colleagues as well as work carried out by external consultants.

Your qualities and experience A medior/senior geotechnical engineer with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience;

A bachelor’s/master’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering;

Experience in offshore geotechnical engineering is a plus;

Experience in Plaxis 2D/3D;

Experience/affinity with programming in Python;

Excellent writing and speaking skills in the English language;

You have demonstrable skills in motivating, educating, and coordinating others in your field of work;

You have a proactive and entrepreneurial attitude;

You don’t mind travelling worldwide if projects or requires;

You are eligible to live and work in the Netherlands.

Extra information Your team: You’ll be working together with a multinational team of geo-specialists, all with their own talents and expertise in geology, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, geophysics, and geomorphology. Besides that you will work together with structural and marine engineers. Most of your work will be carried out for the business unit Boskalis Offshore Heavy Lift.

Where you will work: For office-based roles, in consultation with your manager and your team, you work partly from the office in Papendrecht and partly at home.

Full/part-time job: The position of senior geotechnical engineer is a full-time (40 hours a week). However, 32 hours is negotiable.
