The role

As the Manager of Services Innovation and Development (T4C), you will drive the innovation of our maintenance and services delivery portfolio of our naval solutions. Acting as the line manager of a team of highly skilled Data scientists and Lifecycle Support Architects, you will create and foster the ideal working environment for them to leverage data and technology to improve ship operations as well as increasing the availability and reliability of Damen Naval products.

Key accountabilities

As the Manager of Services Innovation and Development (T4C), your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as line manager by mentoring, and managing a team of Data Scientists and Solution Architects and ensuring the professional development of each team member while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Overseeing the execution of innovation and development projects, ensuring timely delivery with desired outcomes.
  • Developing and implementing a strategic vision for data-driven maintenance and crew training, aligning with the company's goals for ship lifecycle support and training services.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders from Engineering, Operations, Services and Proposals to implement new solutions into all facets of the business.
  • Managing resources, budgets, and priorities for the Data Scientist and Solution Architect teams to ensure projects are adequately resourced and cost-effective.
  • Developing and tracking key performance indicators for the Data Scientist and Solution Architect teams, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
  • Stays abreast with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in ship lifecycle support, training, and Integrated Logistic Support services.
  • Collaborating with external vendors, research partners, customers, and technology providers to leverage external expertise and resources.

Skills & experience

To excel as Manager of Services Innovation and Development (T4C), you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Master of Bachelor degree in Naval architecture, mechanical or civil engineering or another technical study.
  • At least ten years of relevant experience and in-depth knowledge of ship maintenance, repair, and logistic support processes.
  • Experience in the naval or maritime industry or ship lifecycle support industry and in creating and delivering training programs.
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations, compliance, data ethics, compliance, security
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
