R&D Centre Research and Development, in order to create new and highly qualified products, is the prime responsibility of our global R&D Centre. Part of our specialisms are Feeding Systems, Coatings, Ferrous and non-Ferrous alloys, and Filters, all working together to improve the quality of our product offering to foundries. For Foseco Enschede we are looking for a R&D Scientist Feeding Systems You will be working in a small team of R&D Scientists, Technicians and Engineers on the support and development of a new generation feeding systems for foundries. Additionally, you will be developing improved testing procedures to measure the quality and performance of feeding system products, raw materials and formulations within the laboratory environment. The R&D Scientist in Feeding Systems will bring a new dimension to our development of feeding system formulations in terms of chemistry, metallurgy and material science. He/ She will support the team in following a more fundamental approach to our development efforts. Furthermore, he/she will be capable of recognizing and evaluating appropriate technologies of potential value taken from non- related industries. The ability to think freely and work independently are key to this role. Who we are looking for? PhD in Metallurgy, Ceramics technologies, Materials Science, Chemistry or other relevant discipline. High level of understanding of fundamental organic and inorganic chemistry and materials science. Good knowledge of refractory engineering, metal casting, thermodynamic, FactSage and Magma simulation. Minimum 3 years of postgraduate experience in a practical R&D environment or post-doctoral experience. Experience of delivering R&D objectives against deadlines and cost budgets. Ability to work as a member of a Global R&D team in an international environment. Sound practical laboratory skills, with a broad understanding of laboratory testing equipment and procedures and an analytical mindset. Hands on development work in the lab and pilot plant foundry, with the ability to work independently. Self-driven (pro-active), can-do mentality, and a team-player. Excellent communication and presentation skills, fluent in English (both written and spoken). Good interpersonal skills. What do we offer? A salary commensurate with the job level.
