Project Leader – IC Design

Organizational leader for mixed-signal RF ICs in the Health and IoT domain with hands-on experience in IC design development Imec Netherlands has established a world-leading track record in the design of novel sensors for ultra-low-power IoT devices. Our teams continue to develop innovations in environmental monitoring, accurate localization, implantable therapeutics, medical/wearable devices, and many other fields. At our HQ in Leuven, Belgium we are world-renowned for pioneering new process technologies in collaboration with industrial foundries and with the broader semiconductor ecosystem. Imec’s research tracks enable unique opportunities for end-to-end innovations. The IC-design team in imec Netherlands develops innovative solutions for Life Science & Health applications and for massive and heterogeneous sensor networks to connect billions of devices within the internet of things (IoT). We have built various ultra-low-power (ULP) radio ICs like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth-LE, and UWB 6-10 GHz radio tuned towards precise ranging, localization, and radar. Besides, we deliver our designs to customers, patent different inventions, and publish our results in renowned conferences and papers (ISSCC, RFIC, DATE, JSSC, etc.). In this new position, you will be project leader in a multi-disciplinary team to make our solutions smarter by innovative mixed-signal (SoC) architectures for IoT, Life Science, and medical/ implantable applications. The first project you will focus on is to deliver a Transmission and a Receiver IC in the UWB domain. Your main location will be our office in Nijmegen. What you will do

We need you as a Project Leader to be part of our multidisciplinary team to: Take charge of one or more IC design projects, overseeing them from inception to successful completion. This role involves project planning, team management, risk assessment and mitigation, communication with stakeholders and team members, as well as reporting to management. Has a strong problem-solving attitude; identify the problems and find practical solutions to overcome them. Your hands-on experience in IC/SoC design (Digital and/or Analog and/or RF) allows you to quickly understand design challenges and steer these towards delivering solutions with the team, while there is room to execute design tasks yourself. Understanding of all steps in the IC design process, from concept till chip characterization and evaluation till system design. Collaborate in an inter-disciplinary team. Understand (internal or external) customer needs, challenges and requirements and translate that into solutions that you can incorporate into our projects. Contribute to high-quality reports and documentation. What we do for you

By joining imec in Nijmegen, you will be part of a team of disruptive innovators and thinkers. Together, with our Researchers and Engineers (in Nijmegen and Eindhoven), you will work on systems that combine local data with info from the cloud and other sensor networks to create a holistic picture of the world and enable an Intuitive IoT. We drive the Internet of Things by developing innovative solutions for massive, heterogeneous sensor networks to connect billions of devices together. Imec is a reference in the design of ultra-low-power electronics, low-power algorithms to increase intelligence and data security, and in all aspects of data science. Imec The Netherlands, as an employer of choice, offers you an attractive compensation and benefits package including a 100% employer-paid pension plan and flexible working hours. Furthermore, imec-NL offers a wide range of training possibilities. For international candidates, we provide support in the relocation process. Who you are

MSc or PhD in electronics engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience. Proven experience in leading IC design projects. This includes project planning, team management, risk management, communication, reporting. Hands-on experience in mixed-signal IC design. Experience with mixed-signal interfaces, design, behavioural modelling, simulation and timing analysis is a plus. Experience with Digital and/or Analog and /or RF design / simulation is a plus. Solid understanding of the IC-design phases. Knowledge of low-power designs is a plus. Experience with revisioning systems, like git or Cliosoft is a plus. Structural way of working and ability to develop and manage activity planning is highly preferred. Previous experience working closely with (internal or external) stakeholders is a plus. Able to take initiative and responsibility for team’s and project’s success. Thinking pro-actively, working independently and having a creative problem-solving attitud are attributes that define yourself. Should be able to deal with ambiguity.
